Pickard Chilton-Designed 1144 Fifteenth Ranks Fifth on Emporis 2018 Top Ten Skyscrapers List
Pickard Chilton, an award-winning architecture studio best known for its innovative and cutting-edge design of corporate headquarters and campuses, announces that 1144 Fifteenth, a 40-story, 1.2 million gsf office tower in Colorado that the firm designed for Hines, has been ranked fifth on Emporis 2018 Top Ten Skyscrapers List.
The high-performance office tower has been recognized by a jury of international experts for Emporis, one of the world’s leading databases for building information. The Emporis Skyscraper Award is considered among the most renowned prizes for high-rise architecture worldwide. This is the third time a Pickard Chilton skyscraper has been recognized by Emporis; River Point, the 52-story, LEED Platinum-certified, 1.2 million gsf tower in Chicago ranked 7th on Emporis’ 2017 Top Ten Skyscrapers List, and 1180 Peachtree in Atlanta was a finalist in 2006. 1144 Fifteenth was the top ranked among the United States skyscrapers on the list.
1144 Fifteenth is the tallest office skyscraper to be added to Denver’s skyline in 30 years and features a design evocative of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. The building includes 27 floors of Class-A office space atop a 13-story podium comprising retail, restaurants, a fitness center, and 840 parking spaces.
The LEED Gold-certified building’s high performance façade and 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows provide abundant natural light as well as unobstructed mountain and city views. Pickard Chilton designed the building as the future of workplace, offering a free-flowing, flexible and sustainable environment, accompanied by a double-height daylit lobby that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration.
With this edition of Emporis’ Top Ten Skyscrapers List, Pickard Chilton joins other renowned and acclaimed architecture firms including KPF, Ateliers Jean Nouvel, and Moshe Safdie & Associates, among other. The Emporis Skyscraper Award jury of architecture experts from all over the world selected the winning buildings based on aesthetic and functional design from close to 500 nominations.
“We are honored to have been included on Emporis’ Top Ten Skyscrapers List for the third time,” said Pickard Chilton’s Principal Anthony Markese FAIA, RIBA, LEED-AP. “We are proud of our team’s work on 1144 Fifteenth, a building that has redefined Denver’s skyline through its thoughtful, elegant, and cutting-edge design.”
1144 Fifteenth Street is Pickard Chilton’s second major commission in Denver. The firm previously designed 4600 South Syracuse, an office building situated within the Denver Technology Center, overlooking the Rocky Mountains. The firm is currently designing T3 RiNo, a mass timber office building for McCaffery, Hines and Ivanhoé Cambridge at 3500 Blake Street in Denver.
