Associate Principal

Pickard Chilton Architects, Inc. has an opening for an Associate Principal in New Haven, CT.

DUTIES: Drive the studio atmosphere and make sure the studio is in alignment with both studio culture and project management. Manage projects and personnel at a variety of scales. Develop new avenues for business development as well as encourage the development of colleagues. Utilize the project team approach and studio practice model allow all members to meaningfully participate in and contribute to the design process. Demonstrates excellence and mastery in all the Practice Subdisciplines, with specialization m one or more areas. Engages in efforts to serve the office to sustain continued business success beyond individual projects. Serve as an exemplary role model within the office and continues to mentor office staff. Take on new tasks to free up Principals (and eventually replace them). Nurture ongoing business relationships and takes an active part in new business ventures/projects. Engage in initiative-taking efforts to cultivate design partners and serve clients. Lead the review and development of Proposals, both internal and external. Take an active part in new business ventures and projects. Foster and develop new business ventures, relationships, and projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a related field, or the foreign equivalent. 8 years of experience in architecture, or a related field. Professional architectural license in the U.S. 8 years of experience in the following:

  • Working with proposals of design solutions and adding design critique.
  • Working with Design and Client Leadership in a design architecture office.
  • Internal and external team leadership, including successful record in team management and leadership.
  • Leadership in maintaining client relationships.
  • Developing and reviewing Contracts, proposals, and invoicing.
  • Rhino, Revit, CAD, & Adobe Suite.
  • Working to foster and develop junior colleague professional development.
  • Business Development for commercial and multifamily architectural design.
  • Designing large-scale commercial and multifamily architectural projects.
  • Creating project outline specifications.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback of design documentation.
  • Developing detailed project programs.

Alternative requirements: Master’s degree in Architecture, or a related field, or the foreign equivalent. 6 years of experience in architecture, or a related field. Professional architectural license in the U.S. 6 years of experience in the following:

  • Working with proposals of design solutions and adding design critique.
  • Working with Design and Client Leadership in a design architecture office.
  • Internal and external team leadership, including successful record in team management and leadership.
  • Leadership in maintaining client relationships.
  • Developing and reviewing Contracts, proposals, and invoicing.
