Adrienne Nelson receives AIA Connecticut 2016 Award for Emerging Architects

Adrienne Nelson has been a leader in the AIA and AEC communities. She has been a committed advocate for women architects and has a deep passion for mentoring future architects. As a graduate student at Iowa State University, Adrienne served as the AIAS liaison, organizing opportunities for students to become more involved with the local chapter. She was also actively involved in Iowa Women in Architecture, to promote and encourage women in the profession and recently established a similar group in New Haven.

This May, she participated in the AIA Emerging Professionals round table at the National Convention in Philadelphia and in 2013 was a participant in the AIA Women in Leadership Summit in Phoenix. A mentor with the ACE Mentor Program, she has become a as leader of Pickard Chilton’s ACE team, and, in her tenure and has personally mentored over 40 students, while serving as an ACE New Haven Board Member. Adrienne has demonstrated impressive project leadership and has continually brought intelligence and passion to her work, the team and her clients. At Iowa State University, she was recognized with the Miller Fellowship and the Graduate AIA Medal.
